Conservation Program Initiatives and Extended Sign-up

If you are a landowner or operator and are interested in protecting or preserving the natural resources on your property through technical advice provided by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), federal financial help, or a conservation easement, now is the time to contact your local Conservation District or NRCS office to begin the conservation planning process.

While sign-ups have closed for EQIP air quality and organics and Conservation Innovation Grants, sign-up is still underway for the following conservation programs under the 2008 Farm Bill. Apply on or before the following date to be considered for funding in 2009 for the following programs:

August 7, 2009

Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program (FRPP) for conservation easements- round 2 for ranking
Wetlands Reserve Program (WRP) for conservation easements- round 2 for ranking
Grassland Reserve Program (GRP) for conservation easements- the new date is an extension from the previously announced
   June 1 cut-off.

Applications for Farm Bill programs may be submitted at any time.  The  2009 ranking and funding for programs in New Hampshire is based on the cut-off date. If you miss the date, your application will be kept if future program funding becomes available. If you are interested in any of these conservation programs, contact your local conservation district or NRCS office to apply.
