SCA Program Grows in New Hampshire

May 1, 2009

The New Hampshire NRCS has recently added two Student Conservation Association (SCA) interns to serve 12-month internships in the Durham State Office.

Andrea Ernst
Finance Assistant- SCA Intern
Durham

Andrea joined the NRCS /SCA in March as a Finance Intern at the State Office in Durham, NH . She works closely with the Grants and Agreements Specialist to create different types of agreements with NRCS partners. Andrea also helps with purchasing everything from computers to window treatments.

A bit of a novelty among the other interns, Andrea is the mother of 2 (extraordinary!) kids, Chloe and Max. They live a cozy life in Rye, NH with their two cats, Lola and Roberto.

Honor Lawler
Administrative & Communications Assistant/ SCA Intern
Durham

Honor Lawler came on board with the NRCS as the 7th SCA intern at the State Office in Durham. She will be working in the front office as well as joining the public affairs team for a number of special projects.

Originally from Albany, New York, Honor recently moved back to the east coast after spending six months working for the public affairs officer at Olympic National Park in Port Angeles, Washington. Her primary projects involved writing material for the Olympic National Park website and the education plan regarding the Elwha River dam removal, the National Park Service's largest dam removal project to date.

Honor graduated from the University of Michigan in 2008 with a degree in Biology.

SCA is based in Charlestown, New Hampshire and provides opportunities for students to gain hands-on education and work experience with natural resource agencies throughout the United States.
