Land uses in this watershed consist of forestland and wetlands, pasture and cropland. Primary crops include hay, pasture and sugar bush. Other crops include corn, orchards and blueberries. Dairy and beef cattle comprise the majority of livestock farming but sheep, goats, horses, swine, swine, llama and alpaca also have a presence.

The majority of this acreage is forested but also includes 672 acres of row crops and 16,319 acres of hay, rotational crops and permanent pasture. Primary crops include hay, pasture and sugar bush. Other crops include corn, orchards and blueberries. Dairy and beef cattle comprise the majority of livestock farming but sheep, goats, horses, swine, swine, llama and alpaca also have a presence.

New Hampshire’s portion of the watershed is estimated to be a total of 197,516 acres. The West River Valley is a largely forested (86%), steep watershed with a small but diverse agricultural base. There are 325 farms in the watershed including dairy, fruits and vegetables, beef, sheep, llama and horse operations.
