The documents found on this website provide information regarding the application process, program eligibility, as well as other valuable information for landowners wishing to participate in the Wetlands Reserve Program.  The eligibility requirements will sometimes change from previous program years.  Interested applicants are encouraged to review the eligibility requirements carefully and contact NRCS with specific questions.



 

 

 

 

 

 

                                                                              Step 1
                       The following constitutes a complete application package submitted by the landowner:

                            Step 6
If selected, landowner reviews NRCS offer and Agreement for Purchase of Conservation Easement (APCE) (51.4 KB PDF) document.

                            Step 3
NRCS contacts landowner to schedule on site visit to develop the following:

NRCS determines landowner eligibility and
files necessary waivers, title searches, and
hazardous substances record search (AAI)

If ineligible - STOP.
NRCS notifies ineligible applicants.

 

 

                            Step 4
NRCS contacts landowner to schedule final meeting to discuss the following:

 

 

 

 

If landowner is dissatisfied -- STOP.
Landowner must decide whether to
formally defer or withdraw.

If ineligible - STOP.
NRCS notifies ineligible applicants.

If landowner rejects offer - STOP.
Landowner must formally defer or withdraw.

If unfunded, eligible applicants receive deferral letter at the end of fiscal year.

                                                                Step 7
Landowner accepts offer and signs APCE.  State Conservationist obligates acquisition funds and NRCS has 12 months from date of signature to close on easement.

                            Step 5
NRCS makes selections based on ranking scores and available funds.
